About Ben 10: Alien Force Action Packs
Ben 10: Alien Force Action Packs is a turn-based card strategy game based on Cartoon Network's Ben 10: Alien Force series. Choose a Heroes or Villains deck and challenge the computer using cards featuring characters from the show. Each card has a point value and a color, while some offer special abilities that can change the outcome of a match. To win, you must plan your moves across two rounds and make the most of your cards' strengths.
Gameplay and Objective
Action Packs is a single-player card game played against a computer opponent. Before the battle begins, choose whether to play with the Heroes or Villains deck. Both sides follow the same basic rules, but their cards can have different special abilities.
Your objective is to win the match by building a strong score and taking advantage of the target-color rules. Rather than simply playing your highest-value cards, you need to consider card combinations, color advantages, and the options available in the second round.
How to Play Action Packs
Round 1: Play Your First Four Cards
You begin with six cards in your hand. Drag four cards onto the game board to play them against the computer. Once your selections are complete, the computer reveals its cards and calculates the scores.
After the first round, you can discard one, both, or neither of the two cards left in your hand. This gives you an opportunity to replace weaker cards before the next round. There are also six additional cards remaining in your deck.
Round 2: Complete Your Strategy
In the second round, play three more cards. The computer reveals the first two of its final three cards and updates the scores, allowing you to evaluate your position before the final decision.
You then have the option to replace your last played card with another card from your hand. This change costs 10 points, so only use it when the new card offers a worthwhile advantage.
Before the match ends, choose a color for any silver cards you have on the board. The computer then reveals its final card, and the winner is determined by the applicable points or target-color rules.
Card Colors and Special Abilities
Action Packs cards feature characters from Ben 10: Alien Force, including Ben, Gwen, Kevin, and Ben's alien transformations. Each card contributes a point value, and certain combinations can activate additional bonuses.
- Colored cards: Contribute to the totals used in target-color challenges.
- Black cards: Provide point values but do not count toward a target color.
- Silver cards: Can be assigned a color near the end of the match, helping you adjust your strategy.
- Special abilities: Some cards gain bonus points or other advantages when played alongside particular characters or related cards.
For example, Kevin's card can receive bonus points when placed next to Kevin's car or cards featuring Ben or Gwen. Ben's Omnitrix alien cards can also count as Ben cards for certain special abilities.
Understanding Target Colors
At the beginning of a match, the computer reveals cards that establish the target-color conditions. These conditions can affect how the winner is decided, making card color an important part of your strategy.
Depending on the target colors, you may need to build an advantage in particular colors rather than relying entirely on your total points. Silver cards offer useful flexibility because their color can be chosen toward the end of the second round.
Pay attention to the target colors and compare your cards with the opponent's revealed cards before making your final selections.
Tips for Winning Card Battles
- Choose your deck carefully: Heroes and Villains have different character cards and special abilities.
- Look for useful combinations: Cards that support each other may provide more value than individually stronger cards.
- Watch the target colors: A high point total does not always guarantee victory when color conditions matter.
- Plan your discards: After the first round, consider whether keeping your remaining cards will help your final strategy.
- Use silver cards strategically: Save their color flexibility for the final scoring decision.
- Think before replacing a card: Changing your last card costs 10 points, so check whether the possible benefit outweighs the penalty.
- Study your opponent's cards: Use the computer's revealed selections to decide which cards give you the strongest chance of winning.
Can You Win with Heroes or Villains?
Both decks offer a chance to win, but success depends on how well you manage card points, colors, and special abilities. Experiment with different combinations, learn which characters work well together, and adapt your strategy between rounds to defeat the computer.
